The Fabulous Benefits of Coffee

Weather it is the coffee shop down the street or the office espresso machine there are numerous reasons to have a cup of java here are a few.

  • Coffee has been shown in numerous studies to reduce the risk of Alzheimers disease and other forms of dementia. Coffee drinkers are normally more alert and engaged in activities that contribute to a healthy brain. There is significant evidence that caffeine alone has a beneficial effect on long term brain function.
  • Related to the previous point as most coffee drinkers know coffee gives a great pick me up and helps you feel more alert and sharper. In experiments test takers actually perform better after a shot of caffeine. Before work, school, a date, whatever you need to be sharp for have a java.
  • Just to list a few health benefits, coffee has been shown to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, heart disease, liver cancer, ovarian cancer, gallstones and numerous other afflictions. If any of these are true drink up. I tend to be of the opinion that s can make the statics say what they want but when there is this much positive info pointing in the right direction it tends to say something.
  • Athletes preform better in endurance activities and strength related activities. One, because they had the extra energy associated with caffeine. Two, because caffeine helps the body recover glycogen faster. And, three athletes report a reduction in muscle cramps after consuming caffeine. It may not be steroids but it can certainly give you an edge.
  • Dietary suggestions will tell you that you need 30-40 grams of fiber per day. Many Americans get less than 10 grams. This is pretty sad, especially when you consider that a healthy diet will easily supply that amount of fiber. But we are pretty lazy these days, thus the need for espresso machines. However, coffee can have up to 2 grams of fiber per cup, so drink up to reach those suggestions.
  • Coffee is a great ice breaker and a wonderful bonding medium. How many first dates have been had with the unassuming unthreatening lets go get a coffee. If you would really like to be the tight wad that has a tea instead be my guest.
  • Coffee, taste good, and helps many people develop a positive morning ritual. Many people associate coffee with happiness and it gives them a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Not so with some of the other addictive cousins like cigarettes that many people begrudgingly submit to. Coffee is good and many people are happily addicted.
